Product Overview

Military working dogs (MWDs) and police K-9 partners are valued assets and mission-critical team members — and they are exposed to the same ballistic, blast, and laceration threats as their handlers. Yet most standard IFAKs include no veterinary-specific supplies, and standard canine first aid kits lack the trauma capability required for combat or tactical law enforcement casualty scenarios. The NAR K-9 Handler IFAK Kit was engineered to bridge this gap.

Built by North American Rescue — the same company that supplies the majority of U.S. military trauma kits and developed the C-A-T® tourniquet program — the K-9 Handler IFAK combines evidence-based canine trauma care items with a full-capability human trauma kit. The dual-purpose design reflects the reality of K-9 handler operations: the handler must be prepared to treat both their dog and themselves (or a teammate) in the same incident, from the same kit.

The Advanced configuration upgrades the gauze component to QuikClot® Combat Gauze Z-Fold — the CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic gauze for human casualties — while retaining the full K-9 care kit. The petrolatum gauze, digital veterinary thermometer, and ARS needle decompression kit address canine-specific injuries including penetrating wounds, suspected pneumothorax, bloat, and heat injury. MOLLE/PALS mounting makes this kit attachable to assault vests, plate carriers, and tactical harnesses, with NAR's Quick Detach Panel (sold separately) enabling the entire kit to be rapidly removed for side-of-patient deployment.
