Product Overview
The SIRK™ Gen 1 is the original supplemental resupply kit from NAR — designed for the same mission as the Gen 2 but with a slightly different supply manifest. Key differences from Gen 2: the SIRK Gen 1 includes a single HyFin® Vent Chest Seal (not a twin pack), a 6-inch ETD™ (vs. 4-inch in Gen 2), and a polycarbonate eye shield. The Gen 1 also uses 1-inch surgical tape instead of the mini duct tape in Gen 2, and does not include the Model 7 rescue hook, permanent marker, or combat casualty card (though it does include the 9-line MEDEVAC card on the product label).
Both the Combat Gauze® and ChitoGauze® PRO variants provide CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic capability. ChitoGauze® PRO uses a higher chitosan concentration than standard ChitoGauze, providing enhanced hemostatic performance. Operators with shellfish allergies should review the chitosan content with their medical director before selecting the ChitoGauze variant.
The Gen 1 and Gen 2 are both still actively fielded — Gen 1 is often used by units standardized on its supply manifest and is a cost-effective resupply option for kits that don't need the dual-tourniquet Gen 2 configuration.
