The IMAK was developed in direct collaboration with one of the world's premier special operations aviation units to reflect the unique medical demands of aviation missions. Aviation casualties present distinctive challenges: aircraft environments often prevent full tourniquet access; altitude and pressure differentials complicate chest seal effectiveness; and mission profiles ranging from direct action to humanitarian aid require a kit that performs across the entire operational envelope.

The dual QuikClot Combat Gauze LE reflects the IMAK's design philosophy of prioritizing hemostatic capability — CoTCCC-recommended kaolin-impregnated gauze that can address both extremity and junctional wounds that may not be tourniquet-accessible in a cramped aircraft environment. The Beacon™ Chest Seal's strong hydrogel adhesive maintains seal integrity on blood- or sweat-covered skin, critical in the dynamic environment of a moving aircraft or high-altitude insertion zone.

The folding razor utility knife — a distinctive IMAK component — allows rapid clothing removal and equipment access in the field without dedicated trauma shears.
