The Thermal Infusion Set is the IV-fluids-only thermal tubing set for the QUANTUM Blood & Fluid Warming System. It is distinct from the Thermal Transfusion Set–Blood (TTS-B, 35-0005), which is cleared for blood, blood products, and IV fluids. The TIS is the appropriate set when the QUANTUM is being used solely for warming crystalloid or colloid IV solutions — not blood — allowing organizations to use a lower-cost consumable for non-blood warming applications and reserve the TTS-B for blood transfusion events.
Like the TTS-B, the TIS incorporates a conductive heating element between the inner and outer tubing walls (outside the fluid path) and thermistors that continuously report temperature data to the QUANTUM Controller. The controller uses this feedback to dynamically modulate heating, maintaining a consistent output temperature of 100.4°F (38°C ± 2°C) regardless of flow rate variation. Setup is identical to a standard IV set with the addition of the controller cable connection.
