The North American Rescue Trauma & First Aid Boating Kit is the only recreational boating first aid kit on the market that simultaneously satisfies USCG compliance requirements and incorporates CoTCCC-recommended hemorrhage control technology. Most USCG-compliant marine kits are built around minor wound care with no trauma capability — NAR recognized the gap and engineered a solution that covers both regulatory compliance and the real-world medical emergencies that happen on the water: propeller lacerations, anchor chain injuries, fishing hook wounds, falls, burns from engine fires, and crush injuries from dock lines. When major bleeding happens on the water with emergency services potentially 20–30 minutes away, seconds can genuinely determine outcome.

The trauma backbone of this kit is built from NAR's proven product line. The C-A-T® tourniquet (orange, CoTCCC-recommended) addresses extremity hemorrhage — the leading cause of preventable death in trauma. The HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack (CoTCCC-recommended) is designed for open chest wounds, providing both entry and exit wound coverage with a vented design that allows air to escape while sealing the wound. Two rolls of Responder Compressed Gauze enable wound packing for deep lacerations. A 6 in. Responder ETD provides high-compression bandaging for large wound surfaces. A 5.5 in. curved Kelly hemostat enables deep wound management and suture-level hemorrhage control for trained responders. These tools collectively address the full spectrum of major traumatic injury that can occur at sea.

Beyond trauma, the kit's USCG compliance package covers eye injuries (PES eye shields, 4 oz eye wash, Saljet rinse units), burn injuries (BurnTec dressing, 5× Safetec burn gel), fracture and sprain management (SAM® Splint II, two triangular bandages, elastic bandages), antisepsis (10× povidone-iodine prep pads, wound closure strips, bacitracin, antibiotic ointment), and a complete OTC medication suite for pain, allergic reaction, and gastrointestinal distress. Kit items are organized in zippered nylon storage bags with color-coded labels for rapid identification. The water-tight exterior case with integrated carry handle protects all supplies from the marine environment and enables quick transport to the point of need. Three case color options — Orange, Yellow, and Red — allow vessel owners to match their safety equipment scheme or flag specific use locations onboard.

Choosing Your Version: Basic vs. Advanced Bleeding Control

The Basic version provides the core kit as described above. The Basic w/Bleeding Control Dressing version adds an advanced hemostatic dressing for enhanced wound-packing capability in high-volume bleeds. The Basic w/Celox Gauze version substitutes or adds Celox chitosan-based hemostatic gauze — a product with strong clinical evidence for rapid hemorrhage control in arterial and venous wounds. For vessels operating far offshore, in remote lake environments, or for owners who want maximum hemorrhage control capability, the Celox Gauze upgrade is the recommended configuration.
