Product Overview
The Universal Armor Tourniquet Dispenser solves a practical problem that every plate carrier user faces: where to mount tourniquets for guaranteed one-hand access without giving up valuable MOLLE real estate to a dedicated tourniquet holder. TacMed's solution leverages the ID patch area — typically occupied by a name tape, agency patch, or NFPA/RTF identification panel — as a secondary mounting surface. The dispenser mounts between the vest and the patch, keeping the ID panel visible on the outside while creating a tourniquet staging layer behind it. The result is zero MOLLE consumption and zero visual change to the vest's external appearance.
The ambidextrous extraction design allows the tourniquet to be accessed with either hand — a non-negotiable capability for a device that may need to be self-applied to a dominant-hand injury. The heavy-duty construction with reinforced stitching addresses the failure mode of cheaper tourniquet holders that lose retention under physical stress, creating a scenario where the tourniquet separates from the vest without the wearer realizing it. TacMed's stitching specifications maintain positive tourniquet retention through vehicle extrication movements, prolonged patrol, and high-physical-activity scenarios.
The dual-location capability — mounting on both front and back ID patch areas — multiplies the utility for team deployments. A tourniquet staged on the back of a teammate's carrier is accessible by the person behind them during a downed-officer scenario, enabling buddy-care tourniquet application without requiring the casualty to roll over or the rescuer to reposition under fire. This positional logic is embedded in the TCCC doctrine of "treat, then move" — having the tourniquet on the back of the carrier makes it reachable by whoever is performing drag evacuation from behind.
The Universal Armor Tourniquet Dispenser is included as a component of the TacMed™ CERS – Individual and CERS – Rescue systems. For additional tourniquet pouches and holders, see the full MED-TAC catalog.
